Compared to other styles of skylights, the only downfall to a tubular skylight is it does not provide you with a beautiful sky view like a fixed or ventilated option.

Ventilated Skylight – A ventilated skylight is a skylight that provides a sky view with sufficient lighting as well as it can serve as a ventilation system for various rooms throughout the home. The ventilated skylight is also a popular choice among skylights, but you will want to make sure you have enough space for one to be installed as they do take up a lot of space. There are so many different variations of a ventilated skylight, such as an insect screen skylight, manual control rod, electrical opening skylight, and solar powered ventilated skylight.

Deck Mounted Skylight – A Deck mounted skylight is the cousin to a curb mounted skylight. What sets a deck mounted skylight apart from a curb mounted skylight is the profile of the skylight once installed. A deck mounted skylight has a slim design to appear some-what flush with the roof. It is also more energy efficient due to its slim design. It is the skylight preferred for new construction or installing new skylights to existing homes.

Curb Mounted Skylight – A curb mounted skylight is designed to fit like a lid over a shoe box. A curb mounted skylight has a box like structure for the skylight to sit on, making it easier for repairs to be done if needed. Needed repairs are easier to diagnose as well with curb mounted skylights.
