Its that time of year again & we here at Suncastle Roofing would like to wish everyone a happy holiday! We also want to make sure that everyone who is decorating this year or hanging holiday lights on their roofs that they do so in the safest way possible. First thing of course is you will want to test your lights before hanging them. Nobody wants to put all the work into hanging their holiday lighting just to find out that the lights don’t work in the end, also be sure to check your lights for any broken lights or exposed wires that could cause an electrical fire. Second thing you’ll want to do is to attach/secure any holiday lights to the roof’s eaves and NOT to shingles. Shingles were not designed to have holiday lights attached to them, and doing so could cause the shingles to become weak which could lead to further damage. It is also recommended not to use staples or nails to hang holiday lighting. Using Staples or nails means that holes will be made. Holes in any roof means leaking which means you’ll be calling Suncastle Roofing for your roofing repair. Plastic clips are Suncastle Roofing preferred method for those who wish to hang holiday lighting. The plastic clips, if executed properly, can hold your holiday lights as well as cause zero damage to your roof. Last but certainly not least, Suncastle Roofing recommends avoiding walking on your roof at all costs to avoid any falls from the roof but instead use a ladder to hang your lights. Please be sure to use your ladder with caution or with assistance as accidents can happen while on a ladder as well. We hope you take our recommendations into consideration and have a very happy and safe holiday season!
